San Francisco. The 415. The City by the Bay. Birthplace of the Beat Generation. Hearth to the Hippies.
Home of Marketo Summit 2015.
Note: Please excuse the over-the-top adjectives I’m about to employ to describe San Francisco—I grew up there, still have a 415 area code on my phone, and am therefore biased.
If you’re a marketer heading to this golden, glorious city perched on the Pacific for Marketo Summit, you’re probably prepping for some serious marketing learning and mingling. And while you’re there, why not gather your colleagues, invite that client, or woo that prospect by exploring some of the spectacular places San Francisco has to offer?
And with that, I introduce you to the must-visit conference events, cafes, bars, and restaurants near or during Marketo Summit 2015. Map included for your roaming pleasure.
4 Must-Attend Conference Events
Check out these events and sessions during the Marketo Summit.
Marketing Nation Kick-Off Party
Where: Expo Hall

When: April 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Why: It’s official—Marketo Summit has begun and it’s time to drink and mingle! Stop by Booth 614 (cough, cough) to chat with my favorite people at the event. We have candy. Also, you’re going to want to come to the kick-off to get a head start on your #RevenueHunt (see below).
Flawlessly Executing an Integrated Content Strategy
Where: 2014/2016

#RevenueHunt
Where: Expo Hall
Who: A race against everyone; the 12 strongest shall prevail
When: Throughout the event
Why: Because it’s fun and competitive—just like marketers. When you get to Marketo Summit, you’ll find a map in your trade show bag. Can’t find it? Stop by the Kapost booth (614) and we’ll give you one. Next, prepare to hunt! Visit the 5 booths marked with an “X” on your map, then head to LeadMD for a key. If your key opens the treasure chest, pick one of 12 envelopes for your prize.
The Secret Sauce in Your Content Barbecue
Where: 2006/2008
Who: Ann Handley, MarketingProfs
When: April 14 at 4:30pm
Why: Because Ann Handley’s been one of the leading marketing voices for years, and her talk focuses on quality content creation—the key to fueling all those marketing channels. Also, #BarbecueMetaphors.
1 Must-Drink Coffee
Blue Bottle Coffee
Where: 66 Mint Plaza, San Francisco, CA 94103
Who: Meet your colleague or a partner for a pre-session coffee
When: Hop over on your way to Moscone in the morning (see the map for directions)
Why: Coffee has become a religion in San Francisco, and Blue Bottle is one of the most prominent houses of worship. Based in Oakland, Brooklyn, and LA, Blue Bottle is only sold “less than 48 hours out of the roaster,” so you won’t be able to get this coffee just anywhere. Take advantage while you’re close.

Why: On a beautiful day, especially in the early evening, you’ll have to catch your breath after gazing at these stunning views. Get a good look at the San Francisco’s famed hills, the Bay, and some of the city’s well-known landmarks. You won’t regret the elevator ride.

Who: Your content friends. Trust me. We’re all nerds.
When: Hit up this spot before Tuesday’s Gala to get in the mood for celebration.
